Say something that makes sense…There are times in all of our lives when we wonder whether those we’re speaking to will make any sense of what they’re saying before we have to get up a leave. This phenomenon is caused by the tendency some people have of thinking out loud. Thinking out loud is generally when you have a vaguely articulated version of what you want to get across in your head, and you start speaking in the hopes of not only getting this point across but also having a clearer understanding of your own thoughts. Who does that? Well I have it on good authority that a great many people do.
If you don’t believe me just start reading books on public speaking they’ll tell you all about how not to think out loud. You’ll learn alot from this and may even start recognizing that you think out loud sometimes as well. It’s actually great as a brainstorming exercise, but when making a pitch to your boss or speaking to a large crowd it get tedious fast.
